September 29, 2015 - Session 4
The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM):
What should its role be in advancing education reform and in meeting future challenges?
Establishing a preliminary list of future global challenges
The intended outcome (1) is to find out what a school with a twin mission to its residential students and to the rest of the state is doing to improve the capability of its students. The intended outcome (2) is that OCM will analyze, categorize and begin rating the list of global challenges that they have collected.
Activity 10: Chancellor of NCSSM, Todd Roberts, will speak on “How NCSSM Is Improving the Quality of high school education (20 minutes + 10 minutes of questions)
Activity 12: Homework assignment - Each OCM will devise two questions for possible inclusion in an external, electronic survey. The selected questions will allow those surveyed to rate aspects of our chosen predictions for plausibility (likelihood) and future significance.

- What does your organization do that is unique or uniquely better in producing a globally competitive student?
- At a time when America’s high school students are becoming less globally competitive, what is your organization doing to reverse that trend?
Activity 12: Homework assignment - Each OCM will devise two questions for possible inclusion in an external, electronic survey. The selected questions will allow those surveyed to rate aspects of our chosen predictions for plausibility (likelihood) and future significance.
