John Friedrick
DR. JOHN FRIEDRICK taught science to grades K–16; designed two and led
three progressive science high schools, including NCSSM; and has been
involved in or led several educational reform projects. He has a BS in
zoology, an MS in physiology, and a PhD in science education. Now
retired, he and his wife are developing a forty–acre homestead called
the Back Forty.

Tom Hauck
TOM HAUCK grew up overseas and then worked for Texaco managing
petroleum marketing companies in West Africa and Central and South
America, ending his career in Nigeria.

Melissa Mills
MELISSA J. MILLS graduated from Connecticut College with a degree in
history. She earned an MBA at Duke University and, after a thirty-year
career in academic administration at Harvard University and Duke,
earned a master of theological studies at the Duke Divinity School. She
now leads ethics workshops and teaches using science and participants’
experience to focus twenty-first-century life with historical
traditions and evolving cultural trajectories.
